In 2015, STEELFAB engineered and constructed a new project for Doyon Drilling that shows the advantages of building with U.S.A. forged steel: a relocatable shop building designed to stand up to the Arctic’s harsh conditions and provide a safe, secure facility for storing and maintaining equipment right at the drill site. When fully assembled, the building sits 30 feet wide, 50 feet long and 26 feet tall with a standard 5-ton crane. While this is not STEELFAB’s first relocatable building it is their largest non-modular building in both size and weight. It is currently being transported to the North Slope on six trucks in 50 pieces weighing a total of 200,000 pounds.
